| | 4th of July | | How was every ones 4th of July? Did you all get to see fireworks? We got to see an hours worth of fireworks. I took 33 videos of the fireworks they were that nice. I like watching fireworks if they are nice and big. Around here they last while when they set them off. | |
| | How was your 4th of July this year? | | We had a fun time this year. We ate BBQ which is something that we don't normally do. We drove out to watch the laser show, but we started way too late, and ended up having to attempt to go a different direction to watch the fireworks. Our original plan for the day was to attend an outdoor concert, but that went bust. Anyway this weekend was truly a wonderful one where we spent time with family, ATE, played games, and went for a drive. Not a bad holiday at all!How was yours this year? | |
| | How did you spend your 4th of July? | | I missed out on the experience I get every year and that is watching the fireworks. I live in New York City and so every year Macys would sponsor the fireworks on the East River but this year was different. They changed the location and hosted on the hudson river.:-( It's just not the same watching in on television. I got the perfect view watching it from my apartment every year but now I can't, which sucks. But in any case, I had fun today hanging out with my sister in Coney Island and watching Nathan's hot dog eating contest.What about you? How did you spend your 4th of July? | |
| | Do you have plans to celebrate 4th of July? Fireworks? | | Today is the 4th of July and as usual I am doing nothing. I may walk up and see the fireworks later. I dont do too much on the 4th. I used to go to parties, and cookouts but It was always the same. I dont drink so I would watch everyone else get smashed by 6pm. When It was time to go watch the fireworks no one could go because they were drunk. I used to get mad. As I got older and had my own kids, I changed the tradition. We dont go too far because of the drunk drivers and such. I wanted to go to the beach but I dont have a car. Not having a vehicle stinks. So my plans for today are to give the dogs a bath, make a nice dinner for my family and maybe go take a walk up and see the fireworks. And You?.... | |

But did you guys know that it was also an Independence Day for Filipinos?The Philippines was an American colony from 1898-1941. In World War II, it was overran and occupied by Japan. And then it reverted back to American rule when Japan surrendered in 1944. On July 4, 1946 the US Government formally granted independence to the Filipinos and the Philippines became an independent republic. And so our Independence Day was originally 4th of July. In the 1960's, then President Diosdado Macapagal renamed Philippine Independence Day as June 12, in honor of the original Filipino declaration of independence from Spain on June 12, 1898. | | saving money for the 4th of July | | Even though I usually out of town for the July 4th with a couple friends, this year, I have to cancel all of previous planning; instead, staying home for the sake of money saving. During this recession, we have to live frugally, and plan ahead and discreet about the way we spend. For the July 4th, we can enjoy the fireworks at somewhere close to my home. For instance, the downtown area, and the Stone Mountain. No need to spend a big chunk of money on somewhere else this year. Don't you do the same? | |
| | The 4th of July Is My Holiday With My Daughter.... | | The 4th of July is my holiday this year with my daughter. I didn't have any money to buy fireworks for the kids(I also have a 2 year old son) this year but my ex had bought my daughter a boat load of fireworks so she shot some off here the past couple days. Now if you don't already know, my ex has primary custody of our daughter so when I get her for a holiday then it is special time I get to spend with her. Well, he brought her over this morning and I let her shot a few of her fireworks this morning. Well, the town I live in is having a 4th of July celebration at the park, free BBQ, games, etc. It didn't start until 4pm and I was planning on taking the kids to it. Well, my ex works for the City and was already up there working. My daughter kept bugging me to let her go to the park and I kept telling her that she would go when we all went at 4 o'clock. Then about 2:30 my ex comes by my house and asks her if she wants to go to the park with him because there are already a bunch of kids there playing. I got mad, but I went ahead and let her go and I told her that her brother and I would be there shortly. Well, we got there about 3:30 and she was running around playing with all... | |

| | 4th of July Weekend | | What is your favorite thing to do over the 4th of July weekend? What are your plans? I went horseback riding and then to a park where I live that has rides for kids and only costs 25 cents to ride. That, I think is great considering how much everything else costs these days. We also went out to dinner after the kids got tired out at the park. That was yesterday, July 3rd. Today the kids are swimming and we will have a barbeque later and of course after dark, there will be lots of fireworks to watch. | |
