| | Centerpieces~ Wedding | | Hey everyone, I need to rack your brains I am looking for ideas for frugal centerpieces, I have some ideas but I am not totally happy with them I want something that will be remembered but not something that's going to cost us a small fortune. Any ideas? I am trying to stay away from candles as the wedding is in the summer and with the guests in the small hall and the heat from candles I don't want it to heat up too much, nor do I want any accidents happening. I have thought of a potted plant in a nice pot but some people have allergies and I don't want to set anyone off. So you suggestions are totally welcomed. Thanks! | |

| | Banquet Decorating Ideas | | In a little less than two weeks, the women in my family and I are going to an annual Mother-Daughter Banquet. There will be a nice meal, a guest speaker, a backdrop for taking group pictures, and door prizes. There will also be a table decorating contest with cash prizes for the first and second place winners. It is a win-win because those who decorate a table are given money to purchase the centerpiece and favors for those sitting at their table. The theme for this year is "A Moment in Time," and I have chosen to enter the table decorating contest! I'm really excited about it, but I've never done anything like this before. (I got married last summer, so I should be familiar with table decorating as many centerpieces as we had to create for the reception - LOL!) My table will be decorated according to my perspective of time. I'm not going to reveal any ideas I have because I'm interested to read your ideas! | | No Office Christmas Party is complete without.................. | | ...........at least four drunken truck drivers and a hypnotist.Well it has been a week and the pictures in my head are finally tame enough to no longer give me nightmares..........or fits of laughter so intense I end up coughing my lungs up.A week ago today I attended my husbands office christmas party. The bosses really cheaped out with no decorations or tree or table centerpieces and the food was only so so. I guess being in the trucking industry they figured none of their employees or wives were sophisticated enough to care....and me in my ankle length faux mink coat too! The nerve!Anyway,after dinner a hypnotist put on a show. The participants all came from the audience of course, and I gotta tell you, some truck drivers have incredible imaginations. According to the hypnotist, it is the imagination that takes over during the hypnotic state and he played that up to the max.But the climax to the show was putting the men through pregnancy and child birth. Stage by stage, labour pain by labour pain, those macho truckers were reduced to screaming meemies, legs outstretched, hands fisted and heads thrown back in an agony of effort trying to expell that 'baby' from... | |
| | Fourth of July | | I would like to wish all of you a happy Fourth of July and offer a special "Thank You" to all of our service members and veterans who make our freedom possible!When I was a kid, we used to have bottle rocket wars and it was a hoot to sneak up on an unsuspecting person and light a firecracker under their shoe! We also had real M80's which were the equivalent of a quarter stick of dynamite! In those days, an M80 lit and tossed into a body of water resulted in a spectacular geyser followed by floating fish which were ready to be scooped up, taken home and cooked! And who could forget the old M80 in the watermelon trick! It never failed that one of the ladies would decide that watermelons make great centerpieces and casually place the unsuspecting melon over the umbrella hole in the picnic table, thus providing easy access to mischevious little boys lurking underneath! With a jack knife to carve out a plug and a little push of the finger, the melon became a fruit bomb! It was best to wait to light it until everyone was seated at the picnic table and ready to eat, then, BOOM! I can still see old aunt whosis picking watermelon seeds out of her hair!
