| | Gibson or Fender? | | I'm an intermediate guitarist who's been playing for about 2 years. My first guitar was a good old fender strat my dad gave to me when I was 15. It sounded pretty good for a run down guitar, but needed a bit of a 'tune up'. So i go it fixed and now sounds superb with my Marshall amp (that looks like its about to blow up).
I've started a band (me and a couple of friends) and we generally do cover songs of some well known bands, like the Beatles and Heart. We were asked to play at a small party. After the party, we were paid $50 each. The host of the party then thought we would be a really good band for his sons primary school disco/party. Agreeing, we went to the school one Friday night and we were a huge hit for the teachers. Being greatly appreciated by them, we were all payed $100. So now we're playing at a couple of gigs around the town and earning some money (couple of grand per month). But one day, whilst rehearsing with our band, my guitar was stolen out of the garage along with our bass, amp and microphone stand (who would steel it?!). But now, with the money I've earned, I'm looking at buying a Gibson Les Paul (Gold Top), half because of its looks, the other half because... | |
| | | Just a phase or will it last? | | In the 70s/80s disco/party dancing was prevelant with ballroom dances being considered something for the "older generation". Now lots of different dance styles are practised by an increasing number of people. Is this increase in popularity a reflection of current prime time television coverage or is it here to stay? | |
| | If you could still remember... who was your last dance? | | I love to dance and i love party of course.I am a good dancer and participated a lot in school programs especially in dancing. But as far as I remember...my last dance was my husband, because i met him in a disco party. That's it... and you? | |
| | MySpace Party Destroys Family Home | | I was shocked to read this in the newspaper. Parents were left with a $50,000 bill after a party advertised by their teenage daughter on the MySpace social networking site attracted hundreds who trashed their home. The girl had been warned by her mother not to have “any kids or drink in the house" while her parents were on a caravan holiday, but she advertised her "Skins"-themed party, after a British television series about promiscuous, drug-taking teenagers, on MySpace for Easter Monday. She claimed she expected about 30 or 40 people to arrive, but more than 200 invaded the house in northern England, some from as far away as London, carrying what neighbours described as "a suitcase full of alcohol" wreaking mayhem in the quiet town. Her parents returned home the next day to find plastic buckets filled with vomit, cigarette butts littered throughout the house, and the mother’s wedding dress pulled from a wardrobe and urinated on. The mother said it worse than a burglary and couldn’t believe it. She said that whoever went to their house were worse than animals. It will take a month for the home to be professionally cleaned and the parents are staying in temporary... | |
