| Games for a 13th (girl) birthday party?? | | My friends daughter is going to be 13 - we have a good month to plan this 13th birthday party. The party is at there house and we would prefer to use the very large yard rather then the house. The theme is "happy bunny" (see the image at the bottom.)We are wondering what kind of games do you play at a 13th birthday party? Also what kind of prizes for the games?Any ideas will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!! | |
| | 8 year old girl birthday party | | OK, my daughter turns 8 in just over a month. she wants to have a sleepover, which I thought would be fun as long as we kept it small. However, my husband is not up for this at all. Every time I bring it up he starts groaning and talking about all of the negative things that come with a slumber party. What do you think? Is 8 to young to have a small sleep over for a party like 3 or 4 friends? Should we try it and just make sure we have a long talk with our daughter before hand about the ground rules? Should we wait until she is older? | |

| | Child Birthday Parties | | My family just got back from a girl's birthday party. She is a classmate of my 3 year old. The party started out well enough. Some families around a table with BBQ, potato salad, and some drinks. That is until the high school cheerleading band showed up!I was like WTF? and Holy Crap! Some background, the girl is a classmate of my 3 year old and the demographic of my 3 year old's daycare is working class. So people who go there don't have alot of money. I'm beginning to get the feeling that parents these days are in a nuclear arms race with their kids' birthday parties. Whatever happened to getting with friends, a cake with ice cream, and some balls? Have I been living in a cave?Yes, I do have videos too....of all the parties. I found that the best gift I can give isn't some cheap Chinese crap anyone can buy off the shelf but the memories that I actually take my own time to help them preserve.Thoughts? | |

| | It's my baby girl's birthday! | | I can hardly call her my "baby" anymore because she turned 8 today, but she is my youngest daughter so I guess that means she'll always be the baby girl!So 8 years ago at this time, I was still at home. Hubby knew I was in labor but wanted to eat first...LOL I said fine but I'm not fixing it! He pulled out a frozen dinner thing and asked if he should microwave it (10-12 minutes) or bake it in the oven (45-48 minutes)...and yes I remember the exact times because it was so comical at the time. Anyway, he ate and we loaded up in the car to drop the older 2 off at my moms.
It was a Tuesday and our little girl was born at 10:05pm weighing 6 pounds 8 ounces and was 19 inches long, just a bit bigger than her big sister had been. She had tiny little curls...more like wiggly lines, across her head.
Here's a more recent picture of her. She loves being in front of the camera and her dad sends me new ones constantly. | |

| How to handle pester power | | Are you yet another parent who is being held to ransom by your tiny tots? Many children, especially in cities today, want the moon for their birthday. And they are even getting it. Recently, an article in one of the national dailies talked about the harrowing experience one mother had whilst celebrating her little girl's birthday. According to the story, it was very stressful for the parent to measure up to the kid's demands and also prove that she could outdo what the best friend's mom did for her birthday! All this hullabaloo for the birthday of a 5-year old! How do you handle this pester power? | |
| | Doll | | Deeper Thinking!!!^_^I received this message from my highschool friend nico. "A doll was given to a little girl and she liked it a lot. As time passed by, the doll became dirty and old. The girl's birthday came and received a new doll to play with. So she threw the old doll and played with the new one. After a few weeks, the new doll started to break. Then she suddenly realized that the old doll was better. Now she had no doll to play with anymore. "Who do you think suffered much pain? The one who plays? or the one who was played? | |

| Give me some good birthday ideas for a five year old? | | I know some parents do birthday cakes and ice cream, but besides that what else can be incorporated into a five-year-old little girl's birthday to be remembered? Even a boy too on his birthday? I'm running out of some ideas. | |
| | how to get food colouring...? | | Does anyone know of a quick way to get food colouring off of your skin (fingers)? I was making icing for one of our girl's birthday cakes and she wanted purple icing, so naturally, I used red and blue to make the purple. Now I have red and blue fingers and thumb. Any idea of how to get it off, soap and water don't seem to be working. Thanks for the help. | |
