| | How much money do you spend for your Kid's party supplies? | | Hello everyone, I am in the middle of planning my kids birthday parties. My son and my daughter are 5 years apart but one is on the 22nd and the other is on the 23rd of the same month. A boy and a girl so have to have two different themes. I am buying all the stuff and making a lot including personalized wrapped chocolate bars, personalized goody bags, etc. I just reserved the inflatable thing and money is just flying out of my pocket. For just one child I am already at over $250 dollars. I am curious how much others spend when putting together children's parties and also what kind of things do you buy? | |

| Wal Mart biased?... No way! | | I was headed out to my daughter and son-in-law's house last night to watch the play off between the Saints and the Vikes. I stopped by walmart to grab sme chips and dip. I thought it would be fun since I saw they had team plates and napkins to pick up some Saints ones since my son-in-law is from Louisiana. I was shocked that they had only Jets and Vikes pary supplies. It's kinda funny though, because inadvertantly they picked both losers. Ha![em]thumbdown[/em] They lost my money too.. once again! did you watch the playoffs? Did your teams win? | |

| I love dollar stores. What are your favorite things to buy at dollar stores? | | I love to go to dollar stores to see what I can find. They are a great place to buy gift bags and small gifts. I have found quite a few treasures that sure didn't look like they were just a dollar. One of the dollar stores nearby had great children's books and beautiful journals, and I always find nice pots for my plants there. What do you like best about dollar stores, besides the price of course? | |
| | Fancy Email Fonts/colors and backgrounds | | Do you think that fancy email fonts, colors and backgrounds have any place in the business world? I'm getting so tired of emails that come through with fancy, hard to read fonts OR bright hard to read colors OR horrible backgrounds that make the email almost impossible to read. I get it - you figured out how to change your default font - good for you. But it doesn't mean you SHOULD change it.I think it's OK to put a small graphic in your signature now and then (like Happy Holidays!), but I really wish people would stop getting so fancy with their regular emails in the business world. How does it look if I print out an email for an important meeting or something and your font is all fancy dancy and hard to read? I think it looks unprofessional. While the attached image shows only a small part of text, imagine trying to read an entire paragraph with that background.I get that it's fun to mess with your emails when sending to Friends, but when answering work related emails in pink handwriting font or with a polka dot background, I just don't like it. | Do U Shop at Dollar Stores? | | I love shopping at $1.00 stores. I can go to these stores and get a lot of bargain brand products at reasonable prices for a few cents less than at the local department or supermarkets. I went yesterday and stocked up on what I call my paper products (toilet paper, paper towels etc. I even got soap, dish detergent, laundry detergent.
And a few more items.We have several $1 stores in this area, Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and Family Dollar. I also like to shop at Fred's.How about you? Do you shop at any Dollar Stores? | |
| | Surprise! ......Has anyone ever thrown you a surprise party of some kind? | | When I turned 25, some friends wanted to take me out to a movie for my birthday. On the way to the movies (wink,wink) we needed to stop by my friend Julie's sister's apartment complex. Julie's sister was getting married and was having a shower (or so I thought) in the pool house there the next day. We needed to drop off some party supplies. So she handed me the bag and in the door we went. SURPRISE!! There were about 20 of my friends there. I was shocked. I was actually carrying in the party supplies for my own party. It was a great one too! Much better than whatever movie we were thinking of seeing.I think everyone should have at least one surprise party in their life? How about you? Did you have a surprise birthday party? Anniversary party? Shower? other? | I just finished spending an hour on the phone with a friend about her husband | | I just got off the phone after talking to her for over an hour about her marital situation. She and her husband have been married 6 years in December. When they were dating and first married he was a loving attentive husband who really showed that he cared about her. But through the years it has changed a LOT!!!!He now tells my friend who she can talk to and who she can't, he gets mad at her if she says anything when he sees his doctor (she goes in with him because he won't tell the doctor what is going on and he can't remember some of the problems he needs to discuss with the doctor). When they go to the store he is the same way, if she says something he doesn't like he will get mad and yell at her in public. He is domineering about what she buys...so she will grocery shop when he isn't with her. He is constantly criticizing her clothes in public. She scheduled a home party and he got mad because it would be "HIS" money buying the party supplies. She left her job to take care of him...six years ago she knew about his heart problem and was determined to take care of him until he needed the surgery.When he had the surgery she sat by him daily. She was the one that helped... | |
| | Our Walmart is keeping their fabric section!!!!!!!! | | Yes, our Walmart is not getting rid of their fabric section. I thought all Walmarts were getting rid of their fabric section and replacing it with party supplies.. We went there tonight and my daughter said that since they are getting rid of the fabric section, that she wanted to get some fabric. So I said to the woman who was cutting the fabric about how sad it was that they are getting rid of this section, because we use it so much..She said that that store is keeping it..[em]w00t[/em]Turns out that there were many e-mails and phone calls to complain about this. I told her that I was one who had e-mailed and that I got back a reply that more or less apologized but said it was a change that was going to happen..Well, not in my town, yippee, I am so excited..[em]w00t[/em]Though she did say the next town over was losing theirs..:(So before you get distressed, maybe ask and see, maybe your Walmart isn't changing either, couldn't hurt to ask.. | |
