What is your plan for St Patricks Day?
What is your plan for St Patricks Day ... what you are going to do and celebrate it.
St. Patricks Day
First off,let me say happy St. Patricks Day to all my mylot friends. How will you celebrate and why? I have ancesters that came from Ireland. Therefore I have an Irish heritage. And Iam proud of that.[em]happy[/em]I usually make corned beef for dinner or another Irish recipe for dinner.Myself and my daughter usually wear green clothing or jewelry. We have got t shirts with Irish slogans on them.I do know a lot of people that just use the holiday as an excuse to party. Please everyone have fun on how ever you choose to celebrate but be safe.[em]thumbup[/em]
Why do we pinch people who are not wearing green on St. Patricks Day
its an American tradition... in the 1700s, They thought if you wore green, it made you invisible to the Leprechauns, which was good because they would pinch anyone they could see. So the pinching is to warn and remind you about the Leprechauns. So watch out for the Leprechauns an have a happy St Patrick's Day
Happy St. Patricks Day
A lot of my ancesters came from Ireland many years ago and my surname is Irish.I am cooking corned beef and cabbage or dinner. What about you,do you have Irish ancestry? Are you celebrating? Are you fixing Irish recipes?HAPPY ST.PATRICKS DAY!!!![em]happy[/em]
Happy St. Patricks Day
Do you celebrate this day? If so what do you do? My family does the whole cornbeef and cabbage meal. I dont really it, it does smell good, but not of my taste. Im irish and i guess its a big deal for us. Alot of places around town go all out, with the green beer some places with have rides and it will be crazy around town and of course the cops will be out.Happy St Pattys Day
"Green' day tomorrow! St Patricks Day....
So anyone doing anything green tomorrow? I have kids and we usually go out and get corned beef and cabbage. I also buy some green food coloring and then we make other foods and drinks green....rice, cookies, icing, potatoes (peeled & baked or mashed), eggs, pastas, homemade ice cream sandwichs, butter, we get the clear koolaid and put some coloring in it or the green kind depending on the flavor they want, water, we use irish spring for this month and we do some green projects....coloring pages and books, making shamrocks, etc. Anyone have any other ideas? Of course we wear green! and my daughter likes to put on some green eyeshadow (light of course because she is only 5).
St Patricks Day
What are you doing to celebrate St Patricks Day. Myslef and all the family are going to the Guinness Storehouse on Patricks Day. They are also celebrating 250years of brewing so they are having abig festival.Should be a good day.Happy St Patricks Day to all!!!
St. Patricks Day!
Does anyone really know what the celebration of St. Patricks day is. I know it is a Irish holiday but what for? Is it just another reason to get drunk and have green beer or what?
How will you clelbrate St. Patricks Day?
I am sure I'm not the only one out here who will be celebrating St. Patricks Day next week! My friends and I have a tradition every year to get together at a local pub and have drinks in the late afternoon. It's one of the few holidays that we make a point to do that, and I look forward to it every year! This year I even came up with a few Irish Martinis to make at home, in case anyone wants to come on over after the pub for just one more. You can check them out on this site if you have the time... www.ehow.com/how_4836106_make-irish-martinis.html How are you going to celebrate this year? Do you even bother with it at all? Share your story here! Thank you for all your responses and have a wonderful day!
St. Patricks day is a Pagan day of mourning.
I am what some people might call “Obviously Irish”. I have the token red hair, light skin, and I had freckles as a kid.So it surprises people when St. Patricks day rolls around, and I leave my house dressed in black from neck to toe.“Where is your Irish pride!?!” They ask. “Why aren’t you wearing green!?!”“I have a very different view of St. Patrick than most Irish people I know.” I respond. And if they question me further, I might tell them why in my mind St. Patricks Day is a day of mourning. The legend of St. Patrick claims he converted the people of Ireland from Pagan to Christianity. They also say he drove all the serpents out of Ireland. However, it is pretty common knowledge that there WERE no snakes in Ireland at the time Patrick was alive, so historians tend to agree that “serpents” were used to describe the Druids and Pagans. So there we have it. St. Patrick played a pivotal role is ridding Ireland of Druids, Witches, medicine women, shaman and pagan population. We have him to thank for the sacking of the Pagan communities, the destruction of the ancient temples, and the killing of innocent people solely for the fact they did not follow...
