| | our heat wave is over! | | we finally had a more normal spring day today it was in the fifties and overcast and cool, but breezy and my dad asked me if I had a goodbye to Summer Party which I thought was pretty funny. How was it where you are today?was it more back to normal like it was here? | |
| | Birthdays on the Holiday season | | Do you know anyone who has their birthday on or near Christmas? (or Hannukah?)
I know quite a few. My mom's birthday is on December 27, and my dad's is on New Years Eve (plus they were both born the same year). One of my friend's birthdays is also on December 27, and one of my sister's friend's birthday is on Christmas Eve.
I can see how some people would hate to have a birthday around this time; it kind of gets mixed in with the holidays and makes you feel un-special.>w<
My sister's friend doesn't really celebrate her birthday since its so close to Christmas. In stead, her parents usually hold a party- a pool party, slumber party or mini-golf/funcenter party during summer break for her. They don't really call it a "birthday party" more so just a "summer party."
| | I thought it would last forever... | | but now...everything seems to be falling out of place.
We met at Target and were friends at first sight.I knew of him from a friend of a friend at a summer
party and I was glad to finally meet him where I
knew he'd be. He was so cool, a great listener, and
a super fun entertainer. I felt so lucky. It was too
good to be true and all of the other girls were jealous. My friends LOVED him. He always showed us a good time.
And before I knew it, he was meeting my parents
and making delicious fruit drinks for us. Boy, did he know how to blend. He could replace a
Blendtec Smoother™ Bar Blender any day. That was
just a goofy compliment we were always giving him.
Who needed a bartender when we had him around? He encouraged my family to drink healthier beverages
and even got us to try Kiwis and mangos, which we had
never touched before. I was in love. My family was in love. With the Kiwis and mangos. Oh, and I loved him too. He
got me interested in a new hobby and I couldn't be happier.
My friends and family have even been introduced to this new
hobby. He certainly changed our lives and made life so sweet. It's been a few...
| | I Love The Peace and Tranquility Of a Country Life... But, Tonight... Agggggh!!! | | As most of you will know, I live in a small village in the English countryside, and I enjoy what it has to offer which is why I continue to live here! Tonight though... all peace is shattered! It's 9.10 p.m. and the Pub has put on a Seventies Summer Party, in the garden. The price to even enter the pub, is £10 per ticket, and the entertainment for the evening, is Bjorn Again, Abba cover singers. They are a professional band with all the full acoustics of a stage band. Ok... I'll forgo my exclusion from the ability to pop to the pub for a quiet drink on a summer's evening; I'll forgo the ability to park anywhere near my home, and I'll forgo the invasion of the still, evening air by the sound of Abba. I'm not averse to letting other people have a bit of fun where they can get it, but tonight, I could scream!I'm not an Abba lover, but their music isn't offensive. If I don't like them, I don't have to pay £10 to go, huh? But, this a a PUBLIC house, and my only local. Tonight, I'm sitting here at my computer... a few windows open; granted... some three hundred yards or so up from the pub. The pub garden has been screened off so that those who haven't paid admission, can't sneak... | |
| | Why "hide" food if you are still going to eat it? | | OK, my husband and I are working on losing weight. One of our biggest downfalls (believe it or not) is snacking. Normally, we just don't buy the junk food, that was it's not in the house and we can't eat it. Well, last month we had a party for my son who was home on leave for a few weeks. There were a couple bags of chips and some crackers left over. My husband decided that he'd put them in his "hiding place" so that we wouldn't see them and we wouldn't eat them. We'd just save them for our summer party.Well, that's all fine and good, except last night he's eating the crackers! So what did he accomplish? Nothing... And, I noticed this morning that he didn't even put the vaccuum cleaner back up against the cabinet when he took the crackers out. I guess that's so he doesn't have to move it again tonight when he gets more junk out of that cupboard.Do you hide your "snacks" when you're trying to lose weight? Does it work? | |
| | Party suggestions | | Okay as we all know SUMMER is coming to an END and I wanna have a End of Summer party and I don't wanna do the usual dance chat eat thing. | | Boring Party Fun (Joke) | |
Speak in a strange foreign accent. when someone asks
where you are from, name a country only you can pronounce.Use a
different accent every time you talk to someone new. When getting food,
pile everything onto your plate in heaping servings - make sure to use your
hands!Ask the host, "Who threw this cheesy party, anyway?"Turn
cartwheels across the floor. If you can turn a back flip, all the
better!Bring a novel and curl up in a corner with it.Cough all
over guests, then exclaim, "Doctor says a few more years and I'll be
cured..."Hang your head and whisper one-word answers to
questions.Play a lullaby on a kazoo during a speech (singing a lullaby
works okay, too)If there is music, mix up your dancing: break dance to
classical, symphony conductor hand waves to techno music. If you find
your former dancing partner dancing with someone else, burst into tears, wailing
"I thought you loved me!", and run from the room.Tell a middle-aged
wife, "Your husband seems very happy with that girl in the
closet..."Tell a middle aged man, "Your wife seems very happy with that
boy in the closet..."Whisper to the guest...
