Talk about the party you're planning! | | Those of you who speak English, or want to be proficient... | | If you were to be a parent, or eventually have a child, would you care about how teaching programs use the English language? I am using "Go Diego, Go" as an example because I was watching it with my daughter. I know one thing about this particular show is to teach the Spanish language, however, it also teaches English to Spanish speaking children. Mainly, it is meant to be educational. I was somewhat upset to see them using improper English. Does this concern anyone? If so, tell me your feelings. | |
| | Wow! How sad! LOL!! | | ever since my son was able to watch the TV he would. i tried not to let him cause they say babies under 2 shouldnt really watch tv, but when you have a small house and a tv in the living room, bedrooms, i cant really help it. it would catch his attention and i would move him but he would turn his head to watch it again. you can deft. tell he has his fathers geans lol! well i figured that if he was to watch tv, i would at least let him watch something other than violence, and that other stuff. so i put on Nick Jr. and now its so sad, cause i know all the songs to Dora the Exploer, Backyardigans, Go Diego Go, Blues Clues, and The Wonder Pets. Who else knows the songs to your kids tv shows? I sing them to my son and he loves it! He smiles and laughs! | |

| | which do you like better Dora the explorer or go Diego? | | I like go Diego better because there's more to it, he helps animals and shows you there habitat, Dora just does maps and how to get to places. I don't I guess they are both good, my kids like Diego better although they'll watch both shows with no problem. | |
| | | What do you think the hot toys will be this holiday season? | | I'm not sure probably, what ever the popular movies/cartoons are. I know my kids like toys that are from there favorite cartoons, like my youngest son likes baby einstein, backyardigans, and go Diego. so he likes those kinds of toys and my oldest likes spiderman, scooby doo, and blues clues. | |
| | Bilingual toys and cartoons | | My son has a few toys that "speak" spanish and english. His old exersaucer spoke english, spanish, and french. Every once in a great while, he catches an episode of Go Diego or Dora the Explorer so I can take a shower. My husband really doesn't care for all of this, but perhaps this is because he doesn't speak spanish. I don't mind at all, I can understand what he's hearing and don't thik twice about it. How about you? Do you mind toys and shows being bilingual in America? Does your child prefer them? | |
