Talk about the party you're planning! | | Work and Travel | | When I was younger I dream of working and traveling outside my country Philippines. Im always curious to see other places and know different culture. Im also fond of tasting other cuisines. This year my dream came true but it was short lived. I came to work in Canada as a hotel room attendant. It was my first time to see and feel the snow, I felt like im in wonderland. I learned a bit about their culture, infact i was able to celebrate my first Canada Day last July. I met a lot of people and i was blessed to meet good filipino friends in Kamloops. They became my second family there while being away from home. Though my work and travel was short lived Im still thankful to God for giving me that wonderful experienced. Now I still have plans in traveling abroad if God forbids me. | |
| | How long would you wait? | | July 1st is Canada Day, and the Mandarin restaurant chain decided to celebrate by inviting all Canadian citizens to enjoy a free buffet. Thousands came to all 21 locations in Ontario. Being cheap and a lover of free food, I went with a friend. We waited for seven hours to be seated, but it was worth it to us. The Mandarin staff would come out periodically with trays of finger foods and bottled water for us, so my friend and I certainly didn't starve in all that time. However, I was surprised to see how many people kept going to a couple of the other nearby restaurants (Pizza Pizza and Starbucks) to buy food to keep them going while waiting in line. Anybody else see a paradox here? Would you buy food to wait in line to get free food? How long would you wait?

| | Why Is It So Hard To Find Creative Items With Canadian Flags On Them? | | I just ordered an awsome long silkish (not real silk, but you know what I mean) scarf with American stars and stripes all over it which I'm going to wear on the 4th of July, but I need something interesting for Canada Day, and I'm having a hard time finding cool flag items. It seems I can find ANYTHING with the American stars and stripes, but almost nothing with the Canadian maple leaf, and Canadian flag. AARRGGHH!!! i want something like a scarf, or some ribbons to make a bow, or tie up a bouquet of flowers, anything, and I can't find it!!! I went ahead and ordered the American flag scarf off of eBay, but I'm going to have to look around town here for the Canadian flag thing. My husband's American, and I'm Canadian, so we are going to celebrate both holidays. Why is it so hard to find nice Canadian stuff, but so easy to find nice American stuff? Is anyone else having this problem?Does anyone know where I can find what I'm looking for? | |
| | Texas Independence Day | | I that that Texas' independence day is really March 2,when the constitution was proclaimed, but today is April 21, the day that my ancestors defeated the Mexican army at the battle of San Jacinto and made our independence possible. Today is the day that we like to celebrate our independence. When is the independence day for your country? | |

| | It Feels Dang Good To Be Home!!!! | | Today Mom and I went out in search of coffee and other things. We found ourselves at the groccery store. Walking down the aisles I spotted a Canadian flag. I moved closer to it and there was a whole display bin full of Canada-Day items; decorations, flags, stickers, hats, lawn chairs, car flags, table flags, all kinds of CANADA STUFF!!! I've just returned from spending a half a year in the USA, so you can understand why, when I saw that glorious Canada stuf, I wanted to jump into the display bin and play with it all, the way a little kid would jump into a play-pit full of colourful balls. I bought a nice big armload of the stuff in the bin, for Canada Day. Anyone else ever been this excited upon seeing a bin full of Canadian stuff? | |
| | | Independance Day | | Independance Day is coming! July 4th is the celebration of the United States independance from England. We will be barbecueing, shooting off fireworks, playing loud music and of course the drink will flow! Kind of a bummer that it is on a Wednesday this year as too much partying will ruin you for work on Thursday! Not enough partying and you will be ready for work Thursday but your fun will be limited! LOLSo what are you going to do to celebrate Independance Day? | |
